Saturated Substrate

This video shows the result of a core sample in Denver, CO.  This was the last of several core samples taken on site.  What was revealed was a saturated substrate in an area that had no cracks.

Finding this out before construction allows us to create options without exposing saturated substrate.  If we expose that substrate we would have to make substrate repairs before repaving the area. Had a contractor opened this area up in construction it could have led to a substantial change-order.

The building has been there for approximately 10 years with only isolated areas of sinking and damage, therefor, no need to completely replace the asphalt and substrate at this time. There are lots of options we can use to extend the life of the asphalt without disturbing the substrate and will not compromise the integrity of the project.
